I decided to create a model that would show the layering and creating cells= openings. I found a way how to connect the elements= layered objects. These steps I named ´puzzling´, because I am looking for parts that could fit together like puzzle. Then these parts are connected by openings.
Technology of processes of layering and creating cells in real scale means connection to a manual/ hand work. As the layers might be applied by machine, the cells can not be created like that.
In thinking about technology of layering I was inspired by ´Endless Chair by Dirk Vander Kooij´. He used a machine to apply a plastic mash to the specific shape instead of him.
In my case this would be possible, but due to the fact that layers might change their orientation, it is necessary to use a holder capable of moves in all axis while carrying the layered object. At the same time the applicator is static which means that the moving of holder lies under my control.
Cell process is a hand process; I create the cells between objects manually in any required direction.
The whole point consists in a joint that allows the circle surface with an object to move in all axis directions.
After observing the shapes and spaces that were created by layering on different types of line base, I tried to find that specific parts of two or more objects that would fit together, even if they were not meant to have anything common in the beginning. As a tool of connecting these object I set the cells. This method reminds classical sewing, needle and thread, and actually that is the point of material communication among the assembled objects.
For using the process of layering I needed to choose some base or a ground plan that would lead me creating the object. Few first examples were just based on a simple shapes; straight line, sinusoid line, circle, curve. This shapes allowed me to observe the material in specific parts where the line was turning dramatically to other direction.
As the glue is hot while layering, it sets down differently. That is a huge advantage, because following this differences means creating a space. The space can be found in every part of the object and the scale can be adapted to the function of the specific space.
Experiments with layering cells in some various ways ( when next layer of cells is caught onto different parts of previous layer ) showed that there are not many possibilities to layer if we really want our result to be clean and relatively organized. I think the best way is to put the next layer onto the middle point of a cell from the previous layer.
While considering the technology of the real process in a bigger scale the idea of layering itself came back. But I needed some conditions; 1. as in the process of layering cells, also in here I decided to layer upside-down, vertically, horizontally or in any needed direction ; 2. seeing that layering cells showed quite successful, I decided to combine it with this new process of layering ; 3. the previous point lead me to conclusion that the technology and whole process should be created in order to connect the mechanical process with the manual process
